You caught me, I lied. I said I would update this Monday and I didn't. Muahaha I have full control of my blog.
So as you may know I went to the Great Hudson River Revival for Father's Day weekend.
"Clearwater is everything a Folk Festival should be; good music, good people and good fun.
You'll find your community is bigger when you leave than when you came."
- Ani DiFranco

"Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the river over forty years
ago, the Great Hudson River Revival initially helped raise the funds to
build the sloop Clearwater, which has since become a world-renowned
floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action."
I have been volunteering since I was old enough to crack an egg and my parents have been volunteering for 33 years.
We volunteer in the kitchen along side fellow volunteers and a catering company from Ithica. We help prepare food for over 1,000 hungry volunteers.
Croton Point Park.
Selfies in the car! I promise I'll get to the food soon.
My sick bracelet
Day 1:
Pimento cheese stuffed grape tomatoes, this right here took forever.
Yours truly stuffed these puppies
But yummmmm they were good
Massive salad making. The salad on the left my mom was in charge of, and the salad on the right my dad was in charge of. Health freaks!
Beet hummus stuffed endive with a basil garnish.
Yes, I did pipe the hummus on these beauties.
Photoshoot riding down to the site in the UHaul
Nothing like setting up a tent with a sunset
Day 2:
One of many beautiful views
Break time!
My view from the hammack
Damn hippies! I guess everyone here had to use the side door.
Working in a very strict kitchen.
The salad my mother and I made
Peppy Pepper Smash
String peas, onion, red peppers and a red pepper dressing. YUM.
My beautiful mother and I taking a kitchen break.
A reminder to the volunteers we were cooking for...
Brownies.. someone made the mistake of leaving these out, the whole top tray was picked away over the course of an hour.
UHaul chillin
Mother daughter photo shoot in the walk in!
Lonesome piggy got lost in the big kitchen.
Chili snack, this was Saturdays lunch. I am proud to say I opened all of the cans of beans, kidneys and garbanzos. Then there was pork sausage and group beef.
Mama and daughter making salad!
Our creations..
Our hero. Pete Seeger, the 94 year old banjo-picking folksinger.
Such an amazing man, he has dedicated his life to make the world a better place.
crazy crowd!
Daddy happy on Father's Day.
Solar Panels running the show.
Sick drum circle in a tipi, whatttt???
Inevitability of peace.
Maple glazed cashews, my goodness these were delicious.
Close up!
Hippies and their imaginations..
Henna CRAZE!
Late night brisket prep.
Day 3:
Preach!
You could say we made a lot of salad..
Yummy pasta salad that my mother and I made
This is backstage.. Yes I got backstage!!
Super happy to be with my beautiful friend Tashawn!
You could say we are food people, once we met up we went straight to the food without even discussing it.
I got a mozzarella arepa, so Delicious I cannot even begin to explain.
Both Tashawn and I got these big boys! Grassfed burgers on whole wheat buns with delicious white cheddar.
Not only does this festival raise money for a good cause but people with a good cause come to serve food and get their message out. Only happy cows are eaten here.
Close Indian Point!
Pretty view break.
My new obsession, The Blue Pig Ice Cream
Chocolate ice cream, thick and amazingly rich.
A lemon pop, there had to be 10 lemons worth of lemon zest in this little guy.
Mama daughter shopping trip!
And to end the post here is a picture of a big cookie, along with this I will tell a story.
A little boy was completely enthralled with these cookies. He was about 3 or 4 and figured out if he touched a cookie his dad would have to buy it. He first touched the one he wanted, his dad picked it up to buy. Then the boy touched another one and said he changed his mind and wanted the one next to it, he poked it. His dad had to pick it up. After three cookies he was taken away.
Little boys are clever when it comes to cookies.
