Beach day in paradise:

Beach day #1:
Nothing like riding in the back of the pickup in Hawai'i

Mahukona.

Family portrait:

RAWR

Farm house banana bread,
Recipe will come in a later post, be patient!

Beach day #2:

So one of the bee hives swarmed, this is not good because we lost the bees.
BUUUUUT this means we get honey. So here is the harvest of the farms first batch of honey.

Kona:

Makalawena.

This is keawe (keavve) it can be chewed on for a snack. It has a sweet flavor that taste like captain crunch, it also has a straw texture so it stays together and is easy to spit out.

It can also be ground up and sifted to be like mesquite powder.

I dare you to get cuter!

Wait.. are you pregnant?

One of many great things about Hawai'i is the local food.

On the main land it is such a big deal to have grassfed meat and it is also very rare to find. Here? it is the norm to have grassfed meat. So here at Annie's burger and beer grassfed all the way!

To start we got tempura onion rings, we each only ate one because of GMO's in the soy bean frying oil.

But ohboy were these good, the onion was so perfectly cooked and the outside was so crunchy and delicious.

Here is my BBQ "south point" burger.

Grassfed (island beef) with BBQ sauce with cheddar cheese and two of those gnarly onion rings.

So good Nick thanked the burger gods.

Wait...was this good?

Cousin photoshoot!

Sugar cane pops..

Once again Nick very happy about the food.

Cali boys!

And lastly this is the farm we went to visit in South Kona.

This is a Torii.

This is a marker to the entrance of the holy garden.
So this was at the entrance of the property which then turned out to be breathtaking.

This is a native Hawai'ian hibiscus, and the only hibiscus species to have a soler (smell).

Here is Trent, he is a avid coconuter.

He husked a brown coconut in under a minute and retrieved the copra, which then can be pressed to get coconut oil.

Here is the copra.

Here is a lilikoy, also known as a passion fruit.

Baby Jyoti with a olena, which is a tumeric flower.
